Podcasting — think TIVO for audio– is finally finding its way into my life. I jump into this at the risk of Julie’s cyber-zealot charge (Dell consumer segment) mockery….though I press on. But – listen to this wife — according to Pew, 1/3 of iPod users have tried podcasting so that bumps me from that segment — booyaaaaa. Sidebar — John….how can I not find this study on News.com?
Anyway, podcasting is something we have discussed at CNET for some time. The reason it has not appealed to me until now is menu of listening options. The most popular include an obscure farming couple in Wisconsin discussing their day-to-day lives, fettish themed discussions, and a menu of garage bands. But last night I discovered WNYC has entered the podcasting space and now I am interested. I let you know how it goes.
If anyone knows of any good podcasting sites I am all ears. Oh how I wish CNET Radio were still in existence.
Oh yea….and I need to give a shout out to the podcasting software of choice – ipodder – the creation of one Adam Curry of 80s MTV VJ fame.

I read earlier that the Pew study *vastly* overstated how many people were actually podcasting, so you may want to take it with a grain of salt.
I saw it as overhyped as well —
Thanks for contributing Matt
apologies to John — I did finally find the piece on News.

Here is a trick…try searching for pew and podcast on News search
Glad you gave the props to News… hope you sent a TrackBack or Pingback ping.
Way overhyped… and the Reuters piece on News.com doesn’t question it enough. Darn.
